Informal Attire and Social Activities
SWTW is a casual and "fun" conference. Informal discussions are an important part of the workshop, so the organizers spend considerable time facilitating these interactions. There are some optional activities Sunday afternoon for early arrivers, cocktail receptions before each dinner, and various leisure activities to enjoy throughout the workshop. Between each session there are strictly enforced 30 minute breaks to relax and informally discuss the presentations.
JOIN US for a San Diego Heritage Celebration Cocktail Reception, Dinner, and Live Entertainment
This year’s Social Event brings us an evening of passion, excitement and the art of Flamenco and Mariachi, two very distinct cultures and traditions of Spain and Mexico, as we celebrate both with energizing music and mesmerizing dance, as well as delicious cuisine.
When you arrive at the Santiago Courtyard for the cocktail reception, you will be welcomed by the enchanting Mariachi Real De San Diego ensemble. This Mariachi band will provide an authentic taste of genuine Mexican music, which is part of a tradition that dates back hundreds of years. You’ll be entertained with beautiful music throughout the cocktail reception, with songs from their repertoire and your personal requests. We’ll also have some piƱatas to break open in the courtyard just before we sit down for dinner, so practice your swing.

From the cocktail reception we’ll move into the Santiago Ballroom for dinner where you can indulge in delicious, traditional dishes from Spain, including tapas and paella. As you are seated you will be greeted by our second act of performers; Flamenco Artists. Flamenco is a unique art form that combines dancing, guitar playing, singing and a staccato handclapping. Throughout dinner you’ll be serenaded by one of this country’s most accomplished classical guitarists, along with a Flamenco singer. Then later in the evening we’ll enjoy San Diego’s most exquisite Flamenco performers with a guitarist, singer and breathtaking dancers, performing in authentic Flamenco style.

The Dancers will perform in traditional Flamenco attire donning fans, castanets, and elaborate dresses in a dramatic explosion of color. Before the end of the show the Flamenco Dancers will welcome guest participation in a fun rumba Flamenca. So, slip on your dancing shoes and join us for all the fun.
