SWTest 2020 Cancellation Announcement

After thoughtful deliberation, the Semiconductor Wafer Test Conference (SWTest) leadership has made the difficult, but necessary, decision to cancel the SWTest Conference scheduled for June 7-10, 2020 in San Diego, California.

We believe this is the right thing to do in light of the challenges and restrictions introduced by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  The health and safety of our attendees, sponsors, exhibitors and community are our top priority, making it inadvisable for our community to gather at our traditional San Diego conference.

We explored the possibility of postponing the conference to August, however, after extensive input from our Committee and many of our Sponsors, we realized that the industry will not be in a position to travel, even as late as August, 2020.

Considering the travel restrictions and quarantine requirements currently in place and expected to exist for at least several months to come, we are cancelling our SWTest Asia Conference, originally scheduled for October 15-16, 2020 in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Our decision to cancel SWTest, San Diego and SWTest Asia was based on the following factors:

  • Concerns from our Committee Members, Speakers, Sponsors, Exhibitors and Attendees.
  • Diligent monitoring of recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),World Health Organization (WHO) and local governments of our attendees.
  • Government and employer travel and quarantine restrictions.

Clearly, this is a profound disappointment for the many members of our closely knit semiconductor community who have devoted months of planning to make the 30th Anniversary of the SWTest Conference a memorable, impactful event. We are committed to working with the Committee, Speakers, Sponsors, and Exhibitors, to re-schedule SWTest for 2021. In June 6-9, 2021, we will hold a huge 30th Anniversary celebration of SWTest at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego.

Everyone who has registered to attend the SWTest 2020 Conference will receive a full registration refund. Sponsors and Exhibitors will have the option of a full refund or a full credit to roll over to SWTest 2021.  Refunds will be made according to the payment method you used for your registration; i.e. credit card, check or wire transfer.  Once your registration cancellation is processed, you will receive confirmation in a separate email. You do not need to contact SWTest to initiate this process unless you do not receive the cancellation confirmation by June 1, 2020.

We ask for your patience and flexibility as we work through the many details required to cancel a conference of this size and under such rapidly changing conditions. Please view the FAQs below for additional information. We will update the website regularly and as any additional information becomes available.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.  Until we meet in 2021. Stay safe!

  • Government and employer travel restrictions.

Yes, registrations will be fully refunded. Sponsors and Exhibitors will have the option of a full refund or a rollover of the full registration amount to 2021. We expect to issue refunds within the next 90 days and will let you know if we need any additional information. Please, be patient as we process these refunds.

If you made hotel reservations at Rancho Bernardo, The Courtyard by Marriott, or the Hilton Garden Inn, using the SWTest room block code, your reservations will be cancelled automatically.

SWTest will request session authors to submit their papers for our online Archives. These Archives will be available on June 15th.

SWTest will not be able to reimburse you for your travel expenses. You will need to cancel your hotel reservations immediately, unless you booked your hotel reservations using the SWTest room block code at RBI or one of our two official overflow properties, The Courtyard by Marriott or the Hilton Garden Inn. We suggest you contact your airline directly and request a refund. If the airline is unwilling to grant a full refund, they may be willing to reschedule you for another flight in the future.
